Rain Barrel Workshop at Frankford Group Ministry (4620 Griscom St., Philadelphia, PA 19124) Philadelphia Water Department and Tookany, Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership ![]() The workshop will provide a brief overview of the rainwater cycle, the importance of storm water management at the property level, and how to install and use a rain barrel. At the completion of the workshop, the first 50 households that pre-register for the seminar will be given a free 54-gallon Spruce Creek rain barrel. Saturday, October 27, 9:30 am-12:00 pm Trunks for the 'Yunk Tree Planting Party Friends of the Manayunk Canal and The Schuylkill Project ![]() Help us finish our beautification of a stretch of the Towpath at Fountain Street and the Canal by joining us to take part in our native tree planting. Refreshments and snacks provided as a thank you to our volunteers as well as a free exclusive new Schuylkill River t-shirt. Additionally the Manayunk Brewery has invited all our volunteers to celebrate afterward at the Brewery with free food and drink specials!! Don't miss this chance to help out & hang out! This planting concludes the work of numerous clean up and invasive species management efforts that have already taken place at this location throughout this past spring and summer. We hope to use this model to continue to beautify other stretches of the Towpath. |

Ribbon Cutting of Public Dock at Manayunk Brewery Join us for the ribbon cutting at the Manayunk Brewery celebrating the opening of the Manayunk Canal’s first public dock behind the Brewery at the canal. There will be complimentary food, beverages and entertainment. All are welcome. This celebration will also be a send-off party for the Manayunk Dragonboat Team, who is representing the United States at the World Championships in Sydney in September. |
